It is an autobiographical account of the nation's most distinguished achiever the honourable president Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam .His life has been most selflessly devoted to his country, and rewarded most deservingly, with the highest civilian award of the country, the Bharat Ratna .This book is more than a autobiography it his not just his life story ,this book is about the indian space program and the birth of indian missile program.Out of the 200 plus pages in the book only about 37 deal with Dr Kalam's early life, his family ,the rest deal about his professional life ,his life as an engineer and innovator, inspirer and mentor of courageous colleagues, and builder of teams . He oversaw the development of satellite launch vehicles, a feat duplicated by only a handful of other countries. Those SLVs served as the basis for a variety of state-of-the-art military missiles like AGNI, PRITHVI, NAG etc.
He gives credit to the many great visionaries who prepared him for life, especially Professors Sarabhai, Dhawan and Brahm Prakash. Prof. Satish Dhawan, Dr. Rajaramanna
Dr. Kalam own well meaning advice to all the engineering students is
"that when they choose their specialisation, the essential point to consider is whetherthe choice articulates their inner feelings andaspirations." All those young men and women who rush headlong into software careers should pause and reflect.
He ends the book with the fervent prayer that eventually the country will become strong, prosperous. There is a lot to learn from the life of Dr.Kalam. If one has the determination to do and the passion to excel, no force in this world can prevent him from reaching his desired goals. Such is the charisma of this missile man.
This book is really a great one.I have read it too and found it top class. The autobiography apart from giving us an insight into his life also gives us important advices regarding our lives and our duties towards our country.I recommend it to everybody.
